Gordon has 30+ years of experience in mining development, finance and M&A, first as a geophysicist, then as a senior investment banker with CIBC, N.M. Rothschild Canada, Newcrest Capital, and National Bank Financial, and Gryphon Partners Canada, where he was a Co-Founder and Managing Partner. He was also the CEO of Alloycorp Mining Inc., and has served as director of a number of public mining companies including IAMGold, Royal Gold and NexGen Energy.

Currently, Gordon is the Chairman of the Canada Mining Innovation Council (CMIC), and the Chairman of Black Loon Group, a private mining investment, and financial and strategic advisory business, which he founded in 2015.

In 2013, Gordon was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his work with Right To Play. He is also a recipient of the Robert Elver Mineral Economics Award by the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum.

Gordon has a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Applied Science (Geology) from Queen’s University, is a Professional Engineer Ontario (P.Eng), and holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
